Originally
from New York, Joe Gatto is forever devoted to pursuing
his one true passion: filmmaking. Over the past 4 years,
he has directed numerous projects including short films,
music videos, commercials and industrials, and pretty
much anything else he could get his hands on.
His
latest short, Conscience is his attempt
to tell a whole story in a short amount of time.

“Filmmaking is my passion. I love the challenges
it presents, the dedication it requires and the outcome
of a job well done” |
Drop
It Like It’s Hot won him Best Director
at the 48 Hour Film Challenge, where the filmmaker is
challenged to make a movie in a weekend.
|
“It was an experience like no other that
really tests your abilities. And to be able to win
best director under such constraints I consider a
great accomplishment.” |
His
short prior to this, Gotcha made it to
the top 250 finalists in Miramax's Project Greenlight
2.
|
“It was a real confidence booster for me
because there was some heavy competition there. To
make it to that level against the thousands of talented
independent filmmakers really says something."
|
The director recently tried his hand at drama, with his
film Positive.
|
“I loved sending a message, which is hard
to do with a comedy. I feel the piece speaks loudly
for a two minute short and excites me to see what
I can do with the right feature script.”
|
Joe’s
commitment to his projects are not limited to directing
alone. He is actively involved in many aspects of production;
from writing many of his own scripts, to editing and post-production
work.
|
“Some call it being a control freak. I call
it not being able to get enough of doing what you
love.” |
